KAMSC Accounting section continued to provide
support to member Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS’s) during
the year. The 2004 - 2005 year saw a significant increase in the level
of financial activity in both member AMS’s and KAMSC itself.
To assist with the increase in activity, in particular the affects of
the growth in PHCAP, the position of Client Accountant was introduced,
and the previously PHCAP-funded accountant position was brought across
to KAMSC to focus on the reporting needs of member AMS’s.
The KAMSC Accounting section continued to provide training and support
to member AMS bookkeeping and accounts staff, through telephone access
to, and on-site visits from the Client Accountant. In addition, an Attache*
consultant was brought to Broome for one week to hold training for all
AMS bookkeepers and storepersons.
Within the asset services division, the introduction of a new asset management
software system is being progressed which will assist with tracking KAMSC
assets, plus those of the member AMS’s. It is anticipated that
this project will be completed during the 2005 - 2006 year.
A web-based ordering system is also being developed to streamline Stores
processes. When completed, it should result in increased response times,
and more information on stock availability being accessible by remote
AMS’s and clinics. In addition, the system will reduce the repetition
of data entry required, reducing the risk of errors.
The next financial year will see the new ordering system and asset management
software systems developed further.
*Attache is the accounting software used by KAMSC and member AMS’s.
