Overview of Unit

The KAMSC regional IT Support Unit comprises of IT Manager Graham Le Gros, Systems Administrator Santoza Guzzetta, IT Support Officer Brett Stevenson and IT Support Trainee Matthew Lawson. The Unit has been funded on year-to-year grants from Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health since 1999/2000.

The unit is responsible for support of IT systems in KAMSC and member services that provide various critical functions: computerised patient information and recall systems (Project Ferret); office and communications software; Medicare billing; accounts/payroll and electronic banking systems; a student data-base; and graphics/design software.

In addition to providing help-desk and network support functions, the unit is involved in strategic planning for IT needs, software product testing (Ferret versions); data-base conversions; advising on and ordering computer hardware and software, negotiating and maintaining software licences and local staff training.
