KAMSC MEDICATION ASSISTANT TRAINING COURSE

Students participating in the training, have completed training modules related to:

  • Basic Anatomy & Physiology in:
    • Respiratory system
    • Circulatory system
    • Gastro-intestinal system
  • Introduction to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Section 100 Supply Scheme in remote Aboriginal Health Services (AHS)
  • Quality Use of Medicines, and relevant application of QUM principles to the remote AHS setting
  • Laws and Ethical Considerations in Medication management in a remote AHS
  • Medication Management and Stock Control in a remote AHS
  • Supply of medications, including preparation of Dosette Boxes and Webster Pak Management Procedures
  • QUM Programs and Medication Policies , Procedures and Protocols recommended in the Kimberley, including the Kimberley Standard Drug List
  • Medication Calculations
  • Education related to Medications Used in
    • Diabetes,
    • Cardiac & Circulatory Disorders, including hyper-lipidaemia
    • Asthma & COPD
    • Chronic Kidney Disease
    • Antibiotics
    • Analgesics and Anti-Inflammatories
    • Women’s health
    • Mental health
    • Nervous System Disorders
    • Smoking Cessation
