Yura
Yungi is a primary health care service. It is an Aboriginal community
controlled health service that provides holistic, culturally appropriate
curative services with integrated preventative programs.
History
Yura Yungi Aboriginal
Medical Service in Halls Creek was established in 1987. Preventative
and public health programs include maternal and child health, women's
health, chronic disease and sexual health. Specific health program
management is integrated with curative clinic based work through the
application of the Healthplanner data base. Staff include doctors,
Aboriginal health workers and registered nurses. Transport is available
for those people in need and is part of the outreach function. First
aid kits and basic pharmaceuticals are provided to many of the outstations.
Yura Yungi manage specialist appointment notification and transport
needs to facilitate access to specialist services.
A regular visiting service is conducted to Ringer's Soak, Chinaman's Garden,
Old Flora Valley, Ngunjiwirri, and Lumbu Village and the town communities of
Redhill, Nicholson Block, and Mardiwah Loop.
